In ancient Greece, on the island of Crete, there stood a magnificent temple dedicated to the goddess of wisdom. The temple held precious scrolls, valuable treasures, and sacred tools used by its caretakers.

The chief guardian of the temple, Nikandros, was proud of his work.

"Everything is in order," he told the citizens. "I know every corner of this temple."

One spring, a wise traveler named Eleni arrived carrying a small lantern and a collection of blank scrolls.

"I have come to examine the temple," she said.

Nikandros frowned.

"Do you believe I have not cared for it properly?"

Eleni smiled.

Nikandros looked surprised.

"I walked these halls every day, yet I did not see these things."

Eleni replied, "A person who lives beside the sea may stop noticing the sound of waves. A fresh set of eyes can reveal what familiarity hides."

The guardians repaired the records, strengthened the protections, and created better ways to monitor the temple. Years later, visitors praised not only the temple's beauty but the care with which it was managed.

A young apprentice asked Eleni, "Were you searching for mistakes?"

She shook her head.

"No. I was searching for truth. A strong temple is not one that has never been questioned; it is one that becomes stronger when it is examined."
