Few noticed the workers beneath the city.

Some young builders asked him,

"Why do you spend your time on things people cannot see?"

Arin smiled.

"A city does not celebrate the stones beneath its streets, but without them, no one reaches the palace."

"The city is breaking!" they cried.

The builders looked toward Arin.

"Can you fix everything?"

Arin shook his head.

"No single engineer can hold up an entire city. The purpose of a strong platform is not to prevent every storm. It is to help the city survive storms."

He gathered the builders and taught them new practices.

They measured the health of their services.

They designed paths for recovery.

Slowly, the city stabilized.

Many years later, Arin became the oldest engineer in Lumina.
A young developer approached him.

"Master, what makes someone a senior platform engineer?"

Arin looked across the city.

"Is it knowing every tool?"

"No," he answered.

"No."

"Is it solving the hardest problem alone?"

Again, Arin shook his head.

"Then what is it?"

Arin pointed toward the streets below.

"A senior platform engineer builds the environment where others can succeed. They understand technology deeply, but they also understand people, processes, and the future."

He explained:

The young engineer looked at the city.

"So the greatest platform is not the one that gets noticed?"

Arin smiled.

"The greatest platform is the one that allows everyone else to do remarkable things without having to think about the foundation beneath them."
