In a quiet valley, a rushing river separated a village from a mountain where fruit grew in every season.
Many people stood at the riverbank, admiring the mountain from a distance.

"It's too wide," some said.

"The current is too strong," said others.

So they stayed where they were, speaking often of what lay across the water but never attempting the crossing.

Among them was a young woman named Talia. She wanted to reach the mountain, but she was no stronger than anyone else. She was no faster, no wiser, and no more gifted.

An old bridge keeper pointed to seven stones rising just above the water.

"They are enough," he said.

And whenever a traveler feared the rushing river, she pointed not to the mountain, but to the first stone.
