When Maya finished school, everyone in her village asked the same question: "What career will you choose?"

Her friends seemed certain. One wanted to become a doctor because her family admired the profession. Another chose engineering because it was considered a safe path. Maya, however, felt unsure.

She visited an old mapmaker who lived at the edge of the village.

"I need a map for my future," Maya said. "Everyone else seems to know exactly where they are going."

The mapmaker handed her a blank piece of paper.

"This is not a map," Maya said.

"Exactly," replied the mapmaker. "A map is created by exploring the land. You cannot draw your path by only listening to travelers who walked different roads."

Maya began exploring. She studied subjects that interested her, volunteered for projects, spoke with people in different careers, and learned skills outside the classroom. Some experiences confirmed what she liked. Others showed her paths she did not want to follow.

Years later, a younger student asked her, "How did you know which career was right for you?"

Maya smiled.

"I didn't discover my path by choosing perfectly at the beginning. I discovered it by learning, trying, adjusting, and continuing to grow."

Lesson: Education provides the tools for the journey, but career choices become clearer through curiosity, experience, and the willingness to adapt. A successful career is often built through exploration rather than found through a single decision.
