UCA hosts Arkansas Faculty Invitational

The Baum Gallery at the University of Central Arkansas will host a new exhibition “Arkansas Faculty Invitational,” from Jan. 25 to March 15, 2024. This exhibition is curated by Brian Young, Baum Gallery director, in consultation with UCA art faculty.

Young said, “While I feel it important to showcase the work of UCA faculty, this exhibition has a complement of those outside of our university system including Jason McCann from Central High School, Little Rock; Perrion Hurd (Northwest Arkansas Community College); Lisa Floryshek and Thomas Hernandez (ASU-Beebe); Aaron Calvert; Harlon Bozeman (UALR); and Chris Revelle (Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts). Those from UCA’s Department of Art and Design include professors Bryan W. Massey Sr., Jessie Hornbrook, Holly Laws, Leslie Macklin, Scott Meador, Ray Ogar, Donna Pinckley, Jennifer Rospert, Liz Smith and Jeffry Young.”

He also said that the diversity of this exhibition extends beyond the places from which these artists work. The invitational is rich in differing media including drawing, printmaking, jewelry, graphic design, mixed media, painting, sculpture, ceramics and conceptual work.

Baum Gallery is located in McCastlain Hall on the UCA campus. The Baum is free and open to the public. It is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours on Thursday until 7 p.m.

Support for this exhibition has been provided by the UCA Department of Art and Design, the College of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences and the Conway Convention and Visitors Bureau. The CAHSS artists-in-residence program is funded by the UCA Student Arts Fee.
