#edutech #college #work #NFT #education #remotework #onlinelearning #stem #talent #diversity #highered #STEM #blogI've been meaning to talk more about the various streams of value offered to students on the information super highway. I like to use streams mainly because the use ofthe word highway implies a certain amount of fuel to get from location to the next.
A quick backdrop story...i can recall talking to my father prior to joinind the military and we got on the subject of streams of income and variousbenefits it offers...I was able to watch my parents growing up and although they were not the most weathy I had the opportunity of watching them make sound financial decisions. As my father and I talked...I started to rehearse in my mind which paths I would take and for the most part the course I charted aligned with my initial plans. We one of the last times I visited we talked again anout streams of value...though this time we didnt discuss valie streams from a financial aspect but from a knowledge aspect...of which can hold as much value if not more than streams in the financial sense. So as we began the discuss knowledge streams...looking at it in terms of a network was the path the conversation took. To put a longer story more succjntly we discussed the stream of knowledge I gained from my parents versus what my brothers gained and how important it is for us not to only send that stream to our children as siblings but also to the nephews and nieces...so as my brothers and I continue to share knowledge we have more to send to our downstreams for our childrens but also connecting with our siblings children to assist them as well. When you start adding extended family and friend a strong network can be built as knowledge goes not only downstream but upstream as well.
In tying this story to the article's subject, i believe its important to have cohesive links between between the various EdTech resources versus residing in a silo. Whether its ethnic based silo...gender based...influencer based...or monetary based silo. I believe we do student an injustice when we force tgem to search too hard for information or resources which should be flow like an efficiently optimized network...it definitely makes the course towards succeful outcomes highly achievable. I am not saying that everything should just be easily given or handed out but when ifnformation is shared at a maximum level many times the fluff can easily be detected. When students are armed with the information to get from point A to point B many life choices are made easier. Of course it may take some students a little more time than others...but placing the data within reasonable reach should always be the intent. Allowing students to go down that rabbit hole of shared interlinked resources will most lkkely have the elders amazed at what accomplished...when by a single student or a by a student collaborative.
Earlier in the article I chose streams vs highways...a stream is in constant motion towards an endpoint and it can take you on a journey with less fuel needed allowing one to really focus in on the surroundings...from
Taking in knowledge...being afforded to opportunity to see shared views or contrasting views...to nuggets of wisdom...as well as well things to be aware of before you get around the bend. Sometimes knowing is half the battle.
Signing off...
